The Five Hour Rule

Image
I feel like success is a large backdrop for this post, so if you haven't already, check out our post:  The Standard of Success Have you ever wondered what separates the most successful people from the rest of the pack?  Well, it turns out (most of them) share one thing in common: they spend at least five hours a week learning something new.  This phenomenon is known as the Five Hour Rule, and has been gaining popularity in recent years. I was exposed to the idea of the Five Hour Rule through a podcast about productivity.  So in today's post we'll delve into the historical background of the Five Hour Rule, its popularization, and why continuous learning is more crucial than ever and how spending just five hours a week might be a stepping stone to success! A Bit of Background History is the backbone of knowledge!  So, where did this Five Hour Rule come from? Well, there's nothing new under the sun and it turns out that the Five Hour Rule has actually been around f...

Feeling Down? Try This

Image
Welcome, my lovely readers!  Have you ever found yourself feeling down in the slumps for no apparent reason?  Maybe you're having a rough day or week, and nothing seems to cheer you up. We've all been there, and it's completely normal to feel this way from time to time. But we can't stay there, and the faster we're able to work through the slump, the more resilient we become. Did you know that more than 16 million adults in the US alone experience at least one depressive episode during their life?  That's a lot, which is why in this post, I'm going to share some tips from my own experience on how to get work through a case of the blues.  Acknowledge Your Feelings Feelings.  They're great, but can be complicated, and sometimes hard to talk about. However, it's important to acknowledge and accept our emotions, especially when we're feeling down.  Ignoring feelings might seem like the way to go, but bottling up emotions just makes them fester and ev...

Getting Started with Mindfulness

Image
April 18, 2023 If you are interested in living an extraordinary life, you've probably heard of mindfulness as a way to add a little more peace, focus, and presence to your day to day life.  Like me, you might have heard the word and agreed with the idea, but (ironically enough) either never had the time to really look into it, or thought that you were already a pretty mindful person. Well, whether you've managed the time or are looking to simply enhance your mindfulness, this post is for you. What Exactly is Mindfulness? So, what exactly is mindfulness, you might ask?  It's a state of being fully present and engaged in the moment, without judgment or distraction.  Mindfulness is all about tuning in to your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings in a non-judgmental way and with an open mind. Nowadays, mindfulness gets overused as a trendy buzzword, but its roots actually go back thousands of years to ancient Eastern practices like Buddhism and Taoism.  This concept was ...

Hydration Health Benefits & Hacks

Image
April 10, 2023 Happy Easter! With the temperatures steadily rising and spring fever catching, everyone is more than ready for Spring and Summer. :) And it might seem a little premature to be talking about hydration before it’s actually hot outside, but hydration is for all seasons! Did you know that our bodies are made up of ~60% water! Water is a vital element that is essential for all of our body’s functions including digestion, absorption, circulation, and excretion. Staying hydrated is one easy way to maintain good health, while on the other hand, dehydration can lead to a bunch of easily avoidable health problems. What is Hydration? The more I interact with people who are looking for health advice, especially natural health tips, the more surprised I am by what is and isn’t considered common knowledge.  Like hydration. What is it?  Well, hydration is the process of providing your body with the fluid it needs in order to function well.  Water is the primary source of ...

To Do Lists & How to Use Them

Image
July 30, 2022 Do you ever find time getting away from you? You look at the clock and wonder where the day went because somehow nothing got done! There are a million different methods and ideas on how to become more efficient, accomplish more, get more done in a day, but for this post, I’m focusing on probably the most common method: a to-do list. What is a To-Do List? It is exactly what it sounds like. A to-do list is a list of things that you need to get done. Usually, they’re made for a specific period of time. For example, you can make up a morning to-do list, or an afternoon to-do list, a daily one, or even weekly if that works better for you. How to Make a To-Do List I think more people don’t use to-do lists because they think that making one takes time. They don’t know what to write down. They find using a to-do list is too confining and “cramps” their style. Yes and no. Like most things, when it comes to to-do lists, you have to find what works for you. If you try to create...
