5 Seconds to Stop Procrastinating

Image
If I could name one thing that blocks productivity, it would probably be procrastination. Like that dirty load of laundry that still needs to get done, or the blog post you meant to write yesterday... Procrastination kind of sneaks up on us and sabotages our productivity because instead of outright not doing whatever the task is (which, usually isn't an option) we just delay and delay and delay and waste precious time while we're at it. I was actually scrolling social media when I discovered a 3 second rule about productivity and after doing some research I believe the idea comes from the "5 Second Rule." When I use this rule, I tend to get a lot more done and today's post is all about putting this tool in your arsenal too. And the part that not only caught, but kept my attention is that this rule is so, so simple. Because I'm all for making things as easy as possible. Especially when it comes to the tough tasks that we procrastinate on, it only makes sense to...

What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do

Image
We've all experienced that feeling. Some of us more than others. You know, that feeling you get like when you're stuck in the world's longest line at the grocery store, and all you want is your delicious soy ice cream melting away in your cart?  Well, imagine that, but as it relates to your life. The overwhelming sense of not knowing what to do. And usually it's just a minor inconvenience.  But sometimes we get stuck in a rut and that feeling of indecision hangs around until it feels like we're diving off into the deep end of emotional and mental exhaustion.  The Importance of Breaking Free from Inaction In most situations that I've experienced, inaction tends to crop up (for me at least) as the ultimate saboteur in the way of my personal growth, success, and happiness. Because inaction keeps you parked in the same old rut, even if you don't like the rut you're in and would rather get out of it. And like I said before, usually this feeling of inaction is...

80/20 | The Pareto Principle

Image
Hello everyone! Recently, I came across something that made me rethink a lot of my habits and routines. At one point my morning routine took 2 hours and I was looking to cut down on time while maintaining the same amount of effectiveness. And that's when I ran into the 80/20 rule. Have you ever wondered how a tiny fraction of efforts can lead to great results? Well, that's what we're looking at today through the lens of the 80/20 rule also known as the Pareto Principle.  The 80-20 Rule & Its Origin (Vilfredo Pareto): Vilfredo Pareto, was an Italian economist with a knack for unraveling the mysteries of wealth distribution.  Back in the day, Pareto stumbled upon a jaw-dropping realization that 80% of Italy's wealth was controlled by a mere 20% of its population!  He soon recognized a pattern emerging—a relationship where a small fraction of causes produced a lion's share of effects. And thus, the legendary 80-20 rule, named after its insightful creator, was bor...

I was exposed to the idea of the Five Hour Rule through a podcast about productivity.  So in today's post we'll delve into the historical background of the Five Hour Rule, its popularization, and why continuous learning is more crucial than ever and how spending just five hours a week might be a stepping stone to success! A Bit of Background History is the backbone of knowledge!  So, where did this Five Hour Rule come from? Well, there's nothing new under the sun and it turns out that the Five Hour Rule has actually been around f...

The Positive Power of Affirmations

Image
I am... worthy. I am... resilient. I am... positive. I am... successful. Recognize them?^ All of these "I am" statements are something called positive affirmations, which if you aren't already using them, you're in for a treat! So whether you've been  feeling a little bit down lately or are struggling with self-doubt and negative thoughts, positive affirmations are just the thing to help you out of the slump. I've been using affirmations is a variety of ways in my meditations, word/wall arts, and even phone backgrounds. Right now, my favorite affirmation is: Every day, in every way, I am getting/becoming ______ and ______ (even if it's just one cell at a time). Every day in every way I am becoming _ Positive affirmations are short, powerful statements that help you overcome negative thoughts and emotions.  They can increase self-confidence, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve your overall well-being.  In this post, we're taking a closer look at po...
