Is it Really That Hard?

Image
Just today I was browsing through a different blog and one post in particular caught my eye and it reminded me of an experience I had a few years ago, back when I was still in college. I remember it was pretty cold out and I had gone for a long-ish walk like I normally did. And on my walk I was thinking about my circumstances, about school, about my social life, and wondering how to be happier?  And in a not completely unrelated thought, I realized that half of the reason why things were hard for me right then, was because I was making them harder than they actually had to be! I made an important decision on that walk. I decided that from that point on, I would not make things harder for myself than they actually had to be. Has that always been the case since then? Not always. I still tend to get up in my head sometimes, but now I have this little reminder too, reminding me to make sure that I'm not the source of my own problems. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has as...

The Positive Power of Affirmations

I am... worthy. I am... resilient. I am... positive. I am... successful. Recognize them?^ All of these "I am" statements are something called positive affirmations, which if you aren't already using them, you're in for a treat! Every day in every way I am becoming _ Positive affirmations are short, powerful statements that help you overcome negative thoughts and emotions.  They can increase self-confidence, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve your overall well-being.  In this post, we're taking a closer look at po...

Feeling Down? Try This

Welcome, my lovely readers!  Have you ever found yourself feeling down in the slumps for no apparent reason?  Maybe you're having a rough day or week, and nothing seems to cheer you up. We've all been there, and it's completely normal to feel this way from time to time. But we can't stay there, and the faster we're able to work through the slump, the more resilient we become. Did you know that more than 16 million adults in the US alone experience at least one depressive episode during their life?  That's a lot, which is why in this post, I'm going to share some tips from my own experience on how to get work through a case of the blues.  Acknowledge Your Feelings Feelings.  They're great, but can be complicated, and sometimes hard to talk about. However, it's important to acknowledge and accept our emotions, especially when we're feeling down.  Ignoring feelings might seem like the way to go, but bottling up emotions just makes them fester and ev...

Image
April 18, 2023 If you are interested in living an extraordinary life, you've probably heard of mindfulness as a way to add a little more peace, focus, and presence to your day to day life.  Like me, you might have heard the word and agreed with the idea, but (ironically enough) either never had the time to really look into it, or thought that you were already a pretty mindful person. Well, whether you've managed the time or are looking to simply enhance your mindfulness, this post is for you. What Exactly is Mindfulness? So, what exactly is mindfulness, you might ask?  It's a state of being fully present and engaged in the moment, without judgment or distraction.  Mindfulness is all about tuning in to your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings in a non-judgmental way and with an open mind. Nowadays, mindfulness gets overused as a trendy buzzword, but its roots actually go back thousands of years to ancient Eastern practices like Buddhism and Taoism.  This concept was ...
